The Foundation of the Workshop
The Resistance You Feel Is Real
You were chosen to lead because you are trusted, capable, and faithful. You accepted that call because you knew the men and women who would be serving alongside you were equally capable. No doubt many of them are high-capacity leaders in their workplaces, families, and communities. Yet, now it feels like you are running through sand. Every decision feels heavy; every initiative feels like it’s fighting a "phantom resistance." Most importantly, others are telling you they feel the same way.
Over my 23 years of ministry I cannot tell you how many times a ministry that began with a BANG soon felt like running through sand. I thought it was me. I then thought it was "them". Finally, I leveled the blame on "us" and chalked it up to poor leadership skills or the need to change "something". I chased all the shiny objects. Some did give the churches a boost. But it never lasted.
I retired in 2007 and since the pandemic of 2020, I've been studying my ministry and looking at what went "right", what went "wrong", and why good things didn't last very long. Taking on the role of the "outside observer" gave me an insight: I was a good leader. Members were good leaders. The issues arose when the system was unstable in one or more areas I now identify as: Authority, Vitality, Clarity, and Agility.
The Resistance You Feel Isn't Your Fault
The heaviness your church is experiencing today is not a failure of leadership, a lack of faithfulness, or a lack of commitment to a vision. The heaviness sets in when good leaders are addressing the symptoms of organizational instability (low morale, unresolved and consistent conflict, stagnation in growth, mission drift, etc.) instead of the cause - instability in the Four Domains.
Churches can take the "aspirin" of installing a new program, hyping up the vision and mission statements, or embracing the new "revitalization" push. That church would feel better for a while. Then, the masking of the symptoms would fade and the heaviness will return - often in a more severe form.
It's not your fault. It's not the fault of your church members, staff, or denominational leaders. Almost every "cure and corrective" I was given addressed symptoms; not the cause.
You are reading this because about 18 months ago I asked myself one question: "Keith, if you did it all over again, what understanding do you now have that you didn't have then; and how would that benefit the church and its mission?" The result is this workshop: When Good Leadership Isn't Enough.
The Resistance You Feel Can Change
The framework of The Four Domains aligns with what family-systems therapy, organizational psychology, and healthy business practices have affirmed for decades:
People function at their peak only when roles are clear, boundaries are honored,
and decision-making pressure is appropriately distributed.
The solution is structural, not programmatic. The church may wish to change, to add new ministries, let go of others, and engage the "mission drift". Any forward movement will add stress to the structure of the systems in place. Without stability in The Four Domains, momentum will be short-lived even if created.
This masterclass will not:
-
talk about how to achieve church growth, improve evangelism, or build an outreach engine
-
identify "problem people" and push to remove them
-
tell you to "make the tough calls"
-
talk about how to more effectively cast vision and get buy-in
This masterclass experience will:
-
Identify the critical stress points in your current structures
-
Locate the "Deltas"—the dangerous gaps in perception that lead to conflict and energy drain
-
Restore Your Confidence by showing a way moving from personality-driven leadership to a stable, durable system.
Because this masterclass is clinical and not inspirational, You will leave with a personalized 30 day roadmap - that you develop - to assist in addressing The Four Domains and begin the journey to stability.
I am so certain that the workshop will reveal the "silent thieves" of your energy that I will shoulder 100% of the risk.
